Robert L. Schreier, 79, of Bradenton, Fla., a career serviceman and a former teacher at Frontier Central High School, died Monday (Aug. 24, 1998) in Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton, after a brief illness.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of East High School and the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. He earned a master's degree at Canisius College.
He served in the Marine Corps in World War II and the Korean War and retired as a colonel.
He taught mathematics for 17 years at Frontier Central High School. He moved from Hamburg to Florida in 1987.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bradenton and the Naval Academy Alumni Association.
Surviving are his wife, Rita; five daughters, Beth Wailand of Bradenton, Susan Stanton of Vicenza, Italy, Abha Harting of Seattle, Nan of Kutztown, Pa., and Joan Hess; a sister, Marie Hoak of Orchard Park; two brothers, Edward of Nashua, N.H., and William of Hendersonville, N.C.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be offered at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church, Bradenton.
