Harry L. Ellis, 93, of Sardinia, a retired mechanic for the Town of Sardinia Highway Department and an avid sportsman, died Monday (Aug. 24, 1998) at his home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sardinia, he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He also was a member of the National Rifle Association, the Springfield Field and Stream Club, the Sardinia Rod and Gun Club and the Springville Motorcycle Club.
He worked as a mechanic for the Sardinia Highway Department and before that was self-employed at his home as Harry Ellis Sales and Service, dealing in motorcycle services and Firestone products.
Survivors include his wife, the former Eleanor Boser of Sardinia; a son, Louis of Chaffee; three foster daughters, Joyce Smith of Chaffee, June Jenkins of California and Lee Townsend of Farmersville; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in W.S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St., Arcade. Burial will be in Sardinia Cemetery.
