DRIVER DIES AS CAR ROLLS OVER

A Machias man was killed when the car in which he was riding rolled over in the Town of Concord at about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday.

Raymond R. Drake III, 44, of Pleasant Valley Road was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Timothy J. Brennan, 39, also of Pleasant Valley Road, was treated for minor injuries.

Brennan was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, vehicular manslaughter and possession of marijuana.

The men were returning from a bar in Springville when the accident occurred, according to sheriff's deputies.

The car was southbound on Cattaraugus Street just outside Springville. Brennan said he tried to avoid a deer and the car went out of control and rolled over, deputies said.

A small amount of alleged marijuana was found in the vehicle, deputies said.
