Amherst is looking for an architect to fill a volunteer position on the town's Historic Preservation Commission.

To qualify for the vacancy, a candidate must be an Amherst resident who is an architect with experience dealing with local government and training in historic preservation. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 4.

Candidates should send a letter and resume to Peggy Santillo, deputy town supervisor, at the Amherst Municipal Building, 5583 Main St.,
Williamsville, 14221.

The seven-member commission was created to protect some of Amherst's historic landmarks. The commission holds public hearings and recommends to the Town Board which buildings and structures should be designated
