A bag containing the weekend's receipts from the Esprit store in the Rainbow Centre Factory Outlet Mall was stolen at gunpoint Monday. Detective Lt. Frank Tedesco said the bag contained $8,470 in U.S. and Canadian cash and travelers' checks.

A male employee was driving out of the Rainbow Centre parking ramp about 9:35 a.m. when a man approached the car. The employee stopped and heard the man ask for a cigarette. When the employee rolled down his car window, the man pulled a silver automatic handgun from his waistband and demanded the money, which was in an Esprit
shopping bag.

The suspect was described as a black man, 6 feet 2 inches tall and thin, with a thin mustache, wearing blue denim shorts and a white T-shirt with some
printing on it.
