Rex E. Stacy, a former Wilson resident and owner of the R.E. Stacy Coal and Feed Business, died Saturday (Aug. 22, 1998) in Houston after a short illness. He had been living with his daughter, Patricia Harrington, in Spring, Texas.
Stacy, 96, was born in Newfane. He owned the coal and feed store in Wilson for 50 years.
He was a past lodge master and had been a member of the Ontario Lodge 376, F & AM, for 72 years. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Ames Chapter of Royal Arch Masons. He was a founding member of the board of trustees at Newfane Inter-Community Memorial Hospital.
His wife, Winifred A., died in 1994.
Besides his daughter, Stacy is survived by a brother, Sumner of Mineola, Texas; a sister, Pearl Royle of Seal Beach, Calif.; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young St. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
