The Cheektowaga Town Board on Monday gave the go-ahead for construction to begin on a new subdivision next to a planned 18-hole golf course.
The Town Board called a brief meeting Monday night in Town Hall to approve building permits for about half of the 77 "patio homes" proposed for Parwood Subdivision.
Parwood is being built on 11 1/2 acres on the south side of Rehm Road, west of Rehm Road Park. That's in the middle of the 185 acres of town-owned property where a group of Canadian and American investors want to build a
municipal golf course.
Parwood and the planned golf course are separate projects, proposed by different developers. The town still is trying to work out the golf-course deal with developers, Commonwealth Sport Fund LLC.
Developer Bella Vista Group and builders Marrano/Marc Equity Corp., on the other hand, have been proposing Parwood for a few years. The Town Board rezoned the land for the homes last year and gave site plan approval in April. Extension of the storm and sanitary sewers is almost completed at the subdivision site.
The homes will be either a two-bedroom ranch or a three-bedroom, two-story structure. Prices will start at about $120,000. Plans shows one main road winding through the subdivision, splitting into two access roads onto Rehm.
