The village is seeking community input on a vision for its future.
Planning Board Chairman David Freay said more than 45 people turned out for a kick-off meeting last week to discuss their preferences for the future and their concerns about the upcoming state reconstruction of Route 394 through the village.
"We were very pleased with the turnout," Freay said. "We are happy with the ideas that were presented, and we have more meetings and more to learn from the people. We don't want just a handful of people, we want the majority to give us their input."
The village Planning Board, the Chautauqua County Planning Department and the county Department of Economic Development are working on the project.
The state Department of Transportation plans to rebuild the main highway through the village within the next couple of years.
A second session is set for 7 p.m. Thursday.
