A Buffalo hair stylist was awarded $663,000 Monday by a State Supreme Court jury in Niagara Falls for injuries he suffered when his motorcycle was hit by a teen-age driver in Fort Erie three years ago.

Following a six-day trial before Justice Norman E. Joslin, a jury deliberated about three hours before awarding the judgment to Jonathan Simon, 34, operator of Simon Inc. at 110 Elmwood Ave.

Francis M. Letro, Simon's attorney, said the award must be paid by insurance carriers for Daniel Schmidt, driver of the car and his father, Donald J. Schmidt, both of Lockport.

Simon, whose clients have included show business celebrities, got his motorcycle license two months before Daniel Schmidt pulled out of a restaurant parking lot on Garrison Road just west of Concession Road the evening of Aug. 21, 1995, and struck Simon's westbound cycle as he swerved,
Letro said.

The 16-year-old Schmidt, who had just gotten his driver's license, was prosecuted in Canada for failure to yield the right of way but the civil case was tried in Niagara County because that is where he lived, Letro said.
