TEEN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPT TO RUN DOWN PEDESTRIANS

A youth who allegedly tried to run several people down with his car was arrested on multiple charges about 9 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the youth drove the vehicle up on the sidewalk while chasing a 15-year-old girl on Duerstein Street and around the corner on Parkview Avenue, forcing the girl to run up on a porch to safety. Another girl was forced to jump over the front side of the car to avoid being hit, police said.

When police arrived, the suspect ran and had to be subdued in the Davey Street playground, officers said.

Michael Makolinski, 17, of 54 Hennepin St. was charged with attempted vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, assault, resisting arrest and driving while intoxicated.
