POLICE PROBE ROBBERY OF TEEN ON SWEET HOME

Amherst police are continuing their investigation into an armed robbery of a teen-ager reported late Friday, Assistant Chief Frank Olesko said today.

According to police, the 16-year-old male and a friend were walking south along Sweet Home Road at 11:55 p.m. Friday, heading home after a movie at the Maple Ridge 8 cinemas, when the two were accosted by a man carrying a silver handgun.

The handgun was possibly a semiautomatic weapon, Olesko said.

The two teens surrendered a wristwatch, valued at $100, to the suspect, Olesko said.

According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect was with a group of other males and left the scene in a green car located near the site of the incident on Sweet Home Road, police said.
