County Clerk David J. Swarts says he has received an overwhelmingly positive response from municipalities to his plan for a "mobile auto bureau," which would operate in a different location each day.

Twenty of 22 municipalities were in favor of the plan, with only Orchard Park and Williamsville officials saying they did not see the need in their communities because they already are adequately served.

Swarts said the plan would prevent the loss of auto bureau business to other counties and would better serve residents.

He said he likely would seek funds in his 1999 budget for a self-contained van.
