A Pennsylvania man tried to avoid being charged with driving while intoxicated by jumping into the back seat of his vehicle, Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies said.

The incident occurred on Route 394 in the Village of Randolph at 11:20 p.m. Saturday.

Johnny B. Shetler, 25, of Greenville, Pa. was held in lieu of $600 bail. He was charged with DWI, failure to keep right and driving without a license.
