FALLS FUEL OIL SPILL IS LINKED TO BURGLARY

An apparent burglary at a vacant building under renovation resulted in 50 to 100 gallons of fuel oil being spilled in the basement, Fire Department dispatcher James Majka said
Sunday.

The incident occurred about 4 p.m. at 820 Cedar Ave., a vacant structure owned by the neighboring Niagara Geriatrics Center, which is renovating it.

Majka said construction workers took a food break at mid-afternoon Sunday, and when they returned they found their tools had been stolen, and a pipe had been broken off the oil tank in the basement,
leading to the leak.
