Shaker Heights High School's choir director didn't realize Shania Twain is "still the one." Thankfully, his students do.
Nine singers from the school's a cappella choir and four drummers from the marching band have been chosen to perform with the country music star Tuesday night at Blossom Music Center, between Cleveland and Akron.
Robert Schneider, choir director and chairman of the school's music department in this Cleveland suburb, wasn't familiar with the name when the singer's publicist called last week.
"Shania who?" Schneider asked.
"I went out and announced it to the choir, and they all went wild. All these kids love her. And I feel really old," said Schneider, 46.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, whose hits include "You're Still the One," is on her first national tour. She routinely invites high school students to join her in performance, said Michelle Thornbury, a tour manager.
