David V. Whalen, director of day and clinical services at Opportunities Unlimited of Niagara, has been elected president of the New York State Association of Day Service Providers. Whalen has worked at Opportunities Unlimited for more than 11 years.
The New York State Association of Day Service Providers represents 180 registered members from 81 day treatment and day habilitation programs serving individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the state. The group works to disseminate information, advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities, provide technical assistance, promote public and staff education, and maintain a liaison to state and local governments.
Whalen has served as vice president of the association for the past four years and has been a member since 1989.
