A Perry Street man was charged with assaulting police Saturday after he allegedly fought with officers and tried to run away when Broadway Station officers placed him under arrest, according to police reports.
Gerald Seay, 42, was escorted from a Broadway Avenue business for harassment at 12:45 p.m. When Officer John Farszmil told him he was under arrest, Seay threatened to cut the officer's throat and swung at him, striking Farszmil's right hand, which hit the roof of the police car, police said.
Police said Seay ran off, but he was caught about a block away. When Farszmil and Officer Peter Kocol reached him, Seay punched Kocol in the face, according to police reports.
Seay was charged with assault, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
