Frontier Cellular will expand its digital cellular network into Chautauqua County, to better serve wireless customers along the New York State Thruway from Angola in Erie County to Westfield.

DigitalChoice uses state-of-the-art digital technology to transmit and receive calls, resulting in increased clarity, privacy and reliability. It also provides users with features and services such as call identification, voice-mail messaging, call waiting and forwarding and increased battery life.

The service uses a "dual-mode" digital phone, which operates on the company's statewide digital network as well as its analog cellular network.

Service plans for DigitalChoice begin at $39.95 a month plus air time.

Frontier Cellular covers more than 34,000 square miles across Western and Central New York. The company is a joint venture between Frontier Corp. and Bell Atlantic.

BBB seeks nominees for ethics award

The Better Business Bureau is sponsoring its third annual competition to recognize and encourage ethical business practices in Western New York.

The Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics honors local companies that maintain "exceptionally high standards of ethical behavior in buyer and seller relationships," said David P. Polino, president of the Better Business Bureau.

Winners of the award at the local level will be entered into the National Torch Award contest.

Participation does not require membership in the BBB.

Nomination forms award will be accepted through Oct. 2 and are available from the BBB at 741 Delaware Ave., Suite 100.

Natural Envrionmental buys Blasdell company

Natural Environmental Inc., 718 Elk St., said it has acquired Blasdell Development Group at 3725 Jeffrey Blvd., Blasdell.

Natural Environmental is a solid-waste services company with about 20 employees that provides waste collection, transfer, disposal and processing services throughout Western New York.

Blasdell Development Group is a full-service transfer station that accepts all types of non-hazardous municipal, commercial and residential waste.

The purchase price was undisclosed.
