WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY IN BEATING

Still denying she did anything wrong, Monique D. Degree pleaded guilty Friday to beating her ex-lover's new girlfriend with an iron last December.

Ms. Degree, 28, of Mohican Avenue, was allowed to remain free without bail after she pleaded guilty before Erie County Judge John V. Rogowski to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree assault in the Bissell Street home she had shared with the man.

Ms. Degree was indicted on felony assault, weapons and criminal mischief charges.

He set sentencing for Nov. 23, saying he would place her on probation for five years.

The beating victim was treated at a Buffalo hospital and released.
