Robert C. Kraft of Cheektowaga, a retired electrician and World War II veteran, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) in Hospice Buffalo after a brief illness. He was 76.

He was born in West Seneca and served in the Army's 516th Heavy Maintenance Company, 90th Infantry Division, Third Army, in Europe. He received several decorations, including the European Middle Eastern Service Medal.

After the war, he settled in Cheektowaga. He worked as an electrician for Sylvania Electric and Buffalo China. He was active in the Doyle 1 Volunteer Fire Co. for more than 30 years and, in 1993, was honored as the company's fireman of the year.

He played baseball when he was a young man and coached Little League baseball.

Survivors include his wife, the former Bernadette Yeomans; a sister, Gertrude Ludka-Bossman of Grand Island, Fla.; a brother, Donald of Buffalo; and a granddaughter.

Services were held Friday night at the Orlowski-Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William St., Cheektowaga.
