An East Delavan Avenue man pleaded guilty Friday in U.S. District Court to robbing four city banks in July.
George L. Stewart, 34, made off with $23,469 in the four robberies, according to the plea agreement he signed Friday. Police recovered $10,761 of that amount from a July 24 robbery at the M&T Bank at 2303 Delaware Ave., after which Stewart was arrested.
Stewart faces a maximum of 20 years in prison for each of the four counts. However, officials said a likely term under federal sentencing guidelines would be 77 to 96 months.
Judge John T. Elfvin will impose a sentence Nov. 6.
