Celine Dion wishes she had the vocal range of Driggs, the Buffalo Border Collie tapped as one of 12 finalists for the title of "North America's Best Singing Pet."
The nationwide contest, sponsored by Advantage, a flea control product, drew around 25 aspiring pets to its local competition in Delaware Park last month.
But only Driggs was singled out of the crowd from Buffala. He was plucked for his shot at stardom from hundreds of pet hopefuls around the country, a company representative said.
With his owners Eric and Celeste Grace along for the ride as chaperones, Driggs will travel to New York City for the final round of competition Sept. 16. If he wins, he'll be featured in a print advertisement or poster for the flea control spray, and will get to record his yowling for posterity during a professional studio recording session.
The final round of competition will be judged by dog trainer Matthew Margolis, who, appropriately enough, is the host of the PBS series, "WOOF! It's a dog's life with Matthew Margolis."
