Linda Heary Joseph, a Buffalo lawyer, has been chosen to receive the 1998 ATHENA award by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership and the Oldsmobile Dealers Association of Western New York.

The ATHENA award honors a member of the community who strives toward the highest level of professional excellence, while promoting women's leadership opportunities in the Niagara marketplace.

Ms. Joseph, a Williamsville resident, is an attorney and shareholder with Buchanan Ingersoll PC, a law firm. In addition to serving in a leadership role in the firm, her practice focuses on business law, including labor and employment, antitrust and intellectual property litigation.

In addition, she serves as Chair of the Western New York League of Conservation Voters, Chair of the Fund-raising Committee, and member of the Steering Committee of the Western New York Women's TAP fund, and is past chair of the Committee for the Review of Judicial Candidates for the Women's Bar Association of Western New York.

She will be honored at the 10th annual ATHENA awards luncheon on Sept. 23 at the Adam's Mark hotel. Tickets are $30 and may be obtained from the Partnership.
