Downtown workers would be able to park at no charge and get a free lift to their jobs as well under a proposal to be considered Wednesday by the Buffalo Place board of directors.
Under the proposal, a 1,500-space lot on Perry Street east of the Marine Midland Arena would be leased for one year at a cost of $350,000. The money for the program is coming from the city.
Details still are being refined, but drivers probably would be asked to register their vehicles before using the lot, which would be monitored by attendants.
A 24-passenger shuttle van would then follow a loop through the Central Business District.
The program would replace a park-and-ride project that has been offered by Buffalo Civic Auto Ramp at the same lot.
