Elmer F. "Al" Schubert, 93, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., former owner of the LaSalle Box Lunch Co. and a small lunch room in the Freight Yards on Louisiana Street and retired operator of a landscaping business, Schubert Evergreen, died Aug. 8 in the Cape Canaveral Hospital after a short illness.
He was born in Oil City, Pa., and moved with his parents to Buffalo when he was a boy. He lived in Hamburg until his retirement in 1972. After his retirement, he and his wife traveled throughout the country in a camping trailer until settling in Cape Canaveral in 1994.
"Al was looking forward to his 94th birthday on Sept. 22, but he didn't quite make it," said his wife of 53 years, the former Charity Heppner.
He also is survived by a daughter, Janette of Mallory.
