Arlene Hosie Fahs, 79, of 73rd Street, who had worked at the YMCA Day Care, died Thursday (Aug. 20, 1998) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston after a brief illness.
The former Arlene Steiner was born in Jessup, Pa. and was a graduate of Jermyn High School. She moved to Niagara Falls in 1953.
Mrs. Fahs was the housekeeping supervisor at the YWCA in Niagara Falls, where she had worked from 1961 until 1979. She then worked at the YMCA Day Care from 1981 until retiring in 1990.
She was the foster grandmother of several children. In addition, she was a member of the American Legion LaSalle Post 1142 Auxiliary.
Her first husband, Eugene Hosie, died in 1946. Her second husband, Kenneth Hosie, died in 1968. Her third husband, Henry Fahs, died in January 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Robert E. Hosie of the Town of Niagara and Joseph R. Hosie of Lewiston; a sister, Romayne Nicholson of Jermyn, Pa.; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Bernard's Catholic Church, 218 Hinman St., Youngstown, following services at 9 at the Otto Redanz LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.
