A 16-year-old youth has been charged with the shooting death of a 19-year-old outside a West Side grocery store.
Terrance White of 562 Seventh St. was arrested Thursday by Sgt. Daniel Figueroa of the Homicide Section in the Aug. 4 slaying of Anthony Andrews of Hudson Street.
White was charged with shooting Andrews multiple times in the chest with a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun.
Police found Andrews lying outside a grocery store at Pennsylvania Street and Lakeview Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m.
At the time, police said it appeared Andrews had left the store with his mother and was walking down Pennsylvania when he was shot. It appeared he began to run back toward the store, based on a blood trail, police said. Andrews was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
There was speculation at the time that he might not have been the intended target, but no further information was available today.
