Free inspections of vehicles with farm or agricultural license plates will be offered by the state Department of Transportation at sites in Niagara and Orleans counties.

Niagara County inspections will be from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Monday in the DOT Garage, 500 West Ave., Route 31. Inspections are by appointment only and appointments can be made by calling 778-7330.

Orleans County inspections will be held from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday in the DOT Highway Maintenance Facility, Route 31, Albion. Appointments must be made for inspections by calling 589-8000.

Vehicles with no defects will be issued a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance window decal that is valid for three months, and vehicles that remain free of obvious safety defects within that three months will not need to be reinspected. If any out-of-service defects are discovered, the vehicle must be repaired on site or towed to a repair
