The Buffalo Bisons headed for Rochester and tonight's opener of a four-game series with the Red Wings in Frontier Field after they were rained out of their game against the Ottawa Lynx here Thursday night.
The idle Bisons stayed a half-game out of first place in the North Division of the International League, but they are chasing a new division leader. Pawtucket recorded a 4-3 victory over Syracuse to move into first. The Red Sox have a 70-54 record, while Buffalo and Syracuse are 70-55.
Since Thursday's scheduled game was to have been the last between the Bisons and Lynx at Jetform park, it will have to be made up as part of a doubleheader when Ottawa visits North AmeriCare Park next Tuesday and Wednesday. No official rescheduling date was announced Thursday night by the teams.
Right-hander Jason Rakers, who was scheduled to pitch for Buffalo Thursday, probably will get the start tonight against the Wings. The series stands 5-5 but the teams have not met since July 6.
