Robert L. Ramsey, 75, of Crystal Beach, Ont., retired district sales manager for Eljer Plumbingware and a former resident of Kenmore, died Monday (March 30, 1998) in the Port Colborne (Ont.) Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Norway, Alberta, he moved to Crystal Beach in the early 1940s and worked in the family general store, Ramsey Brothers. He joined the Army Air Forces in 1942 and served in World War II as a mechanic on B-29 bombers. He became a U.S. citizen after the war.
Ramsey was employed by Eljer Plumbingware for 29 years until his retirement in 1981. He lived in Kenmore and Scotia, Cleveland and Kenmore again between 1948 and 1981. He moved to Crystal Beach in 1981.
His wife of 32 years, the former Patricia Tompkins, died in 1979.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda Ulrich of Fredonia and Roberta Cagney and Sheila Todaro, both of Kenmore; a sister, Claribelle Aboussafy of Alberta; two brothers, Gordon of Lockport and Donald of Redding, Calif.; his fiance, Jesse Davidge of Crystal Beach; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rolling Chapel of Dengler Funeral Home, 3000 Delaware Ave., Kenmore. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
