A Rochester man who may have been living in local hotels and in his car was arrested Monday night after an armed robbery at the Microtel on Freeman Drive in the Town of Lancaster, town police reported today.

The robbery occurred at about 8 p.m., when a man entered the motel and flashed a handgun at the clerk on duty. The bandit fled with an undetermined amount of money.

Lt. Timothy Murphy and Officer Erin Myers helped other officers find the suspect's vehicle outside Club Diamond Dust, where Cheektowaga police helped Town of Lancaster police arrest the suspect.

Police charged David C. Hands, 43, with second-degree robbery and a weapons count. He also is wanted on outstanding warrants from Monroe County, according to police.
