A public meeting to gauge interest in reviving the long-dormant Niagara County Agricultural Society will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Cornell Cooperative Extension Training Center,
4487 Lake Ave.
Julie Hayden, a Cooperative Extension program assistant, said that although that organization supports the notion of an agricultural society, the meeting is not sponsored by Cooperative Extension.
She said it is a grass-roots meeting for residents who produce any amount of food or fiber, or who are interested in rural living and Niagara
County's agricultural heritage.
Thursday's meeting will also explore whether eastern Niagara County needs a farmers' market. The City of Lockport is again hosting the market this year, although its future appears in doubt.
