Jennie A. Berak, 80, of Walnut Avenue, a former beautician and mother of two police officers, died Monday (March 30, 1998) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.
A native of Niagara Falls, the former Jennie A. Sirianni worked as a beautician in her home for many years.
She retired in the late 1960s after working as a waitress in Hotel Niagara and in Greens Restaurant on the Niagara Falls Golf Course.
Mrs. Berak was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She also was an active member of the Bishop Duffy High School Ladies Club when her two sons were students there.
Her husband, Samuel, died in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony B., a captain in the Niagara County Sheriff's Department, and Carl C. of Wheatfield, a detective in the Niagara Falls Police Department; three sisters, Lena Mistretta of Los Angeles, Florence Gaetano and Nancy Franjoine; a brother, Angelo Sirianni; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue, after prayers at 9 in M.J. Colucci & Son Funeral Chapel, 468 19th St. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
