PAROLEE IS ARRESTED AT GIRLFRIEND'S HOUSE

A man on parole for manslaughter was arrested at 11:36 p.m. Saturday after an incident at his girlfriend's house in which a police officer was injured, Officer Christopher Clark said.

Brian Shongo, 38, who listed addresses of 4006 DeVeaux St. and 87 Mariner St., Buffalo, was charged with attempted first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, second-degree harassment, and resisting arrest.

Clark said Saturday's incident occurred at the DeVeaux Street address. Lori A. Rogler, 34, Shongo's girlfriend for six years, said he showed up at the home drunk and threatened to beat her up if she did not let him in.

Clark said Shongo brought a ladder from the garage and tried to enter an upstairs bedroom window. The officer said Ms. Rogler ran outside and was being chased by Shongo when police arrived.

Clark said Shongo flipped Officer Paul Nicastro over backwards before being subdued.

Shongo pleaded guilty April 17, 1979, to first-degree manslaughter in the Jan. 19, 1978 shotgun slaying of Allen C. Porter, 37, at Hudson and Trenton streets in Buffalo. He was sentenced to 7 to 21 years in state prison.
