The Newstead Historical Society is planning "Life in the Past Lane," a cruise along the Erie Canal beginning at 12:30 p.m. June 6.
"The two-hour cruise includes "locking through, and being raised the 49 feet of the Niagara Escarpment in the only double set of locks on the canal," said program organizer Susan Houlihan. A Coast Guard-licensed captain will describe the architecture, sights and folklore along the way, she added.
Advance reservations are $9 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Admission is free for children under 4. The deadline for reservations is May 22.
