John E. Cooper, 89, of Weston Avenue, who operated an electrical store for more than 30 years, died Saturday (March 28, 1998) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a long illness.
Cooper was born in Vienna, Austria, moved to Niagara falls when he was 3 years old.
After working for several years as a quality-control supervisor for battery testing at Niacet Corp., Cooper started the Cooper Electric Surplus Co., which was located on Jerauld Avenue for three decades before his retirement.
Cooper enjoyed hunting and boating. He was a member of the LaSalle Yacht Club and the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Adele Lasky; a daughter, Shirley Dodge of Richmond, Va.; a brother, Andrew Scarupa; two sisters, Mary Schreiber and Anne Timm; and two grandchildren.
Private services will be held today in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
