An 18-year-old motorist who struck a motorcyclist with her car got hit herself -- by the victim's wife.
Kara Keeler was punched in the face by Semis Kokonis' wife, who had watched her husband get thrown from the motorcycle in the crash, Columbia County sheriff's deputies said.
"Apparently, she was hysterical, and she just hauled off and punched her," Deputy Ed Porreca said. The wife's name was not immediately available.
Kokonis, 47, was riding his motorcycle north on Route 9 in Greenport Saturday when Ms. Keeler's car, heading south, slammed into him, sheriff's deputies said. Ms. Keeler, of Claverack, apparently was trying to make a left turn.
Kokonis' wife watched the accident as she drove behind him in a car. She then got out of her car, walked over to Ms. Keeler's vehicle and punched the teen-ager, police said.
Kokonis, of South Cairo, was in Albany Medical Center Hospital Sunday with a broken pelvis and broken arm. Charges were pending against Ms. Keeler and the wife, authorities said. Ms. Keeler did not need medical attention, deputies said.
