Trucks are dangerous. They're heavy, hard to maneuver and can create mayhem. So don't stop in the driving lanes of the Thruway, cut trucks off, race with trucks, stay in a truck's blind spot or get angry because the truck can't pass any quicker. That's as fast as it is mechanically able to go -- and it won't go any quicker just because a car is trailing two feet off its back bumper.
Truck drivers know the dangers -- they must and do deal with them daily. Many motorists either don't know or don't care. Face the facts, trucks are here to stay. If drivers aren't careful, they can get hurt. People should act accordingly and accept responsibility to be alert, courteous and, above all, careful around trucks.
