Restaurant inspections are conducted by the Niagara County Health Department.
Every establishment that serves food is evaluated at least annually by the department. Restaurants rated as high-risk, because they serve children or the elderly, or serve foods that require a lot of processing or are prepared hours or days before serving, are inspected at least twice a year.

Cafeteria, 79th Street School, 551 79th St. Critical violations: two (cold deli meat sandwiches stored at room temperature; not enough refrigerator units). Sanitation, design, etc.: none. Inspected March 16.
Fortuna's Deluxe Restaurant, 827 19th St. Critical violations: one (waitress handling/slicing bread with bare hands, corrected on inspection). Sanitation, design, etc.: two (knives improperly stored between tables; ice cream scoop not properly stored in ice cream or in running water, corrected at inspection). Inspected March 17.
The Alps Chalet Restaurant, 1555 Military Road. No critical violations. Sanitation, design, etc.: one (floor mats need steam cleaning). Workers are painting, cleaning restaurant. Inspected March 19.
Best Western Summit Inn, 9500 Niagara Falls Blvd. No critical violations. Sanitation, design, etc.: two (food preparation workers' hair not properly restrained; dirty knife stored in rack). Inspected March 20.
Koban's, 3045 Niagara St. No critical violations. Sanitation, design, etc.: two (food not protected during storage, fresh fruit and vegetables stored below raw meat, possible contamination hazard; spoons improperly stored with handles not all facing one way). All violations corrected at time of inspection. Inspected March 20.
Maple Avenue School, 952 Maple Ave. No critical violations. Sanitation, design, etc.: two (two of three beverage coolers do not have thermometers inside to test safe storage temperatures; peeling paint on wall and ceiling above coolers). Inspected March 20.
