JINGO TOP PRIZE FOLLOWS THEATER TICKETS LAST WEEK

"I can't believe I won first prize," Christine Riley said when learning she had won this week's top prize in SUPER JINGO Game 828, a trip for two for four nights at the Four Points Hotel Sheraton in Toronto, plus $500.

"I have been playing the game for about five years and won theater tickets just last week. That was the first time I've won anything," she said, adding, "I'm so excited -- my heart is beating so fast."

She has been playing since moving here in August 1993 from Tulsa, Okla., she said. "I am from Buffalo originally, and I'm glad to be back here. I have never won a thing until now, but I have never given up. Now I've won two weeks in a row," said Mrs. Riley. "Thanks so much."

The award-winning Four Points Hotel Sheraton is located on six acres of woodland, offering genuine hospitality and personal charm, a heated indoor pool and many in-room amenities. The hotel is a short drive from the best Toronto has to offer, including attractions, theaters, dining and shopping. The prize includes full breakfast buffet daily, one lunch buffet for two and one dinner buffet for two.

Other top-prize winners in SUPER JINGO Game No. 828 include:

Julie Plarr of Blasdell -- $700 furniture certificate.

Rose Marie Karalus -- Two season tickets for Shea's Broadway Matinee Series.

Russell Zorn of Alden -- A showroom car detail.

Laura Pike of Depew -- $60 entertainment certificate.

"I did? Is that the furniture?" asked Mrs. Plarr, when finding out she won second prize this week. "Yea! -- That's what I wanted to win, because I really need new bar stools for my kitchen."

Mrs. Plarr apparently is one lucky SUPER JINGO player. "I've been playing a long time -- I won the trip to Florida in 1985, and in 1990 I won a trip to the Bahamas, which I used for my honeymoon. I told my future husband at that time I was going to win that trip, and I did. I also have won some of the smaller prizes. It's been eight years since winning, and I was due to win again," she added.

Mrs. Plarr changes her strategy with each round of games. "When first prize is a trip to Florida I submit more entries. This week I hand-drew a few and had my husband drop them off on his way to work."

"Oh -- you're kidding, that's wonderful. That's the prize I have been wanting to win," Mrs. Karalus said, when told she had won third-prize, two season tickets for Shea's Broadway Matinee Series.

Mrs. Karalus said: "I've been playing for years and years. I won twice -- two little, piddly things -- before. Thanks so much."

Russell Zorn will be surprised to learn he is the fourth-prize winner this week of a showroom car detail.

Charles Caulfield mailed the lucky entry this week for his daughter, Laura Pike, to win fifth prize, a $60 entertainment certificate. "Wonderful -- thanks a bunch," she said.

Playing SUPER JINGO is a family affair. Caulfield tells us: "About 10 or 12 years ago I won $500 worth of groceries. My other daughter, Jean McCann, plays but has not won yet. Sometimes my daughters are busy with their jobs and families, so I mail the entries in for them."

Remember, it is not necessary to write or phone The Buffalo News if you are one of the other 45 winners. Prizes will soon be mailed to you.
