Frederick A. Schrenk, 71, a retired trainman, died Friday (March 27, 1998) at his Elma home after a long illness.
He was born in the City of Tonawanda and educated in West Seneca.
From 1944 to 1946, he served in the Navy as a yeoman third class in New York, Rhode Island and Virginia. He was awarded the Victory Medal, American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal.
He worked on the railroad for 38 years, starting in 1950 with the Lehigh Valley Rail Road and retiring in 1978 because of illness.
He was a member of Jamison Road Volunteer Fire Company and its Benevolent Association as well as Local 1393, United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Reger; four daughters, Karen of Elma, Mary Georgescu of New York City, Susan Nunez of Tampa, Fla., and Denise Stenbakken of Nuevo, Calif.; a son, Fred of Orchard Park; a brother, Richard Vogel of Lancaster; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6441 Seneca St., Spring Brook.[hkes]
