Colorado College beat Clarkson, 3-1, with speed and physical play Saturday in the first round of the NCAA East Regional hockey tournament.

Colorado coach Don Lucia had said that his team would have to play a physical game to beat a stronger Clarkson team. The Colorado players frequently beat Clarkson to the puck and won the one-on-one battles on the boards.

At one point, Clarkson's Willie Mitchell was sent flying over the boards and into the Colorado bench.

Colorado will face Boston College today in the second round of the tournament.
