Agnes K. Kennedy, 91, an active community volunteer who operated a clothing store with her husband, John P., the former mayor of Medina, died Saturday (March 28, 1998) in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, where she had lived for eight years.
The former Agnes Kinn was born in Dunkirk and graduated from Fredonia State Teachers College.
In 1928, she moved to Medina, where she taught in the public school system for several years.
In 1931, the year they were married, she and her husband purchased the clothing establishment. She served as bookkeeper and treasurer of Kennedy Bros. Clothing Store for many years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Mothers Club and Catholic Daughters of the Church. She was a Red Cross volunteer and a member of the Cotillion Club of Medina.
Mrs. Kennedy also served as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 29 and was active in the Medina Memorial Hospital Association.
Her husband died in 1978.
Survivors include four sons, John P. Jr. of Chicago, Thomas L. of Boston, David J. of East Amherst and Donald F.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Church, 8110 West Ave., after prayers at 10:30 in Barnes-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.[nfschr]
