A safe containing approximately $14,000 was recovered Thursday, along with a car that had been stolen from a South Buffalo auto shop, South District police reported.

The 3-by-2-foot safe, which also contained state vehicle inspection stickers, was stolen during a burglary at Dave's Service Center on South Park Avenue, according to police reports. A computer also was stolen during the break-in, which occurred sometime overnight Wednesday.

A 1984-model car was stolen from the lot of the business, police were told. That car, with the safe and money inside, was recovered Thursday at Perry and Peabody streets. The computer still is missing.
