Robert A. Beckman, 81, a retired sales manager for Pratt & Lambert Paint Co., died Wednesday (March 25, 1998) in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness.

A native of Buffalo, Beckman graduated from Bennett High School and began working for Pratt & Lambert in 1934. He rose to the position of manager of the Canadian Sales Division and represented Pratt & Lambert in Ontario for many years, working out of an office in Fort Erie. He retired in 1981.

Beckman was an Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 7th Army in North Africa.

An avid woodworker, Beckman remodeled much of his Buffalo home through the years. He spent many vacations at the Stony Lakes area of southern Ontario.

Beckman was a longtime member and deacon of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church. He also was a member of Edward M. Daley Post 130, American Legion, and a volunteer for the Food Shuttle of Western New York.

His wife, Dorothy MacLeod Beckman, died in 1980.

Surviving are a daughter, Alex J. of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; two sons, Dr. Daniel R. of Cincinnati and Barry D. of Mesa, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Chapel, followed by burial.
