The North Tonawanda School Board will resume its line-by-line review of a proposed 1998-99 budget Wednesday in an effort to find another $1 million in savings.
The public is invited to the budget workshop which will begin at 6 p.m. in the district administration building, 175 Humphrey Street.
The school board by state law must get any increase in the new budget down to a cap of no more than 2.76 percent above last year's budget.
The legal cap stems from the fact that North Tonawanda has operated on a contingency
budget for the past year.
At a budget workshop Wednesday night, the board reduced proposed expenditures by close to $200,000.
Last year's budget was $44.89 million. Applying a 2.76 percent cap on top of that figure, would limit the new budget to $46.1 million.
