Beatrice H. Tutton, 100, of Clinton, Ohio, a former Buffalo resident and a noted choral singer, died Thursday (March 26, 1998) in Pleasant View Nursing Home, Barberton, Ohio, after a long illness.
Born Beatrice Hosken in Hallowell, Maine, she moved to Buffalo with her family in 1911 and was a graduate of Bryant & Stratton Business Institute.
She moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1961. She had been a resident of Clinton since 1994.
She performed many of the major choral works with the Schola Cantorum, Buffalo Choral Club, Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus and the choirs of Plymouth Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, St. John's Episcopal Church and Bethlehem Presbyterian Church.
She married George Tutton, co-owner of an Elmwood Avenue meat market, in 1921. He died in 1976. Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Betty Jane of Clearwater, Fla., and Jean Ross of Clinton, and two granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in Fairlawn Lutheran Church, Fairlawn, Ohio.
