Ruth E. Conley, a retired telephone operator for Lockport Memorial Hospital and New York Telephone, died Tuesday (March 24, 1998) in Briody Health Care Facility. She was 100.
A native of Ridgeway, the former Ruth E. O'Connell lived in Lockport since 1940, many years on Spalding Street. She retired from the hospital in 1964.
Mrs. Conley enjoyed spending summers in her cottage at Fish Creek in Somerset.
Her husband, James F., died in 1946.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas J. of Haddonfield, N.J., and James F. of Barker; two daughters, Joan O'Neill of West Seneca and Ruth Tomtishen; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 168 Chestnut St., after prayers at 10:30 in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Middleport.
