Where have all the gentlemen gone? Recently, upon entering a waiting area in a crowded restaurant, I noticed a frail elderly woman clutching her walker waiting for a table with other individuals. After quite some time, she was still standing there, trying very hard to keep her balance.
Around us in the waiting room, all the seats were occupied. Many of those sitting were strong, healthy-looking young men who saw the elderly woman's plight, but remained seated. As I began to talk to this sweet lady, she remarked that when she was young, she got up and gave her seat to any elderly person, handicapped or not.
Times certainly have changed. For those reading this who hide behind "women's lib," "equality" or "first come, first served," I still must ask: What has happened to human regard and consideration for others?
