HEARING SET IN FALLS ON POWER DEREGULATION

The City Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Earl W. Brydges Library, 1425 Main St., on the deregulation of the electrical industry and what it will mean to local residents, businesses and
industries.

State and local elected officials, representatives of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and individuals who have been involved in municipal takeovers of power systems, will participate in a panel discussion and answer questions from the
public.

Prior to the approval of deregulation, the City Council unanimously adopted a resolution to explore the possibility of the city taking control of its power system as a method of lowering costs for consumers. Councilman Vincent R. Morello said that while that is still a possibility, there may be other options that would be more effective in lowering electrical
expenses.
